South Coast Vicariate has the honor to have one of our churches chosen as a pilgrimage church destination... St. Monica's in Coos Bay is one of the pilgrimage sites for the Archdiocese of Portland.
Jubilee Vicariate Celebrations: In order to foster spiritual growth, charitable outreach, and community collaboration, Archbishop Sample has encouraged regional Vicariates to organize works of mercy, support charitable causes, and unite parishes through shared activities.
What is a Vicariate? A Vicariate is a regional grouping of neighboring parishes within a diocese, overseen by a vicar who supports the bishop in pastoral care and administration. This structure encourages parishes to work together on shared initiatives. We are part of the South Coast Vicariate with Father Anthony as Vicar Forane. Our Vicariate includes: Holy Trinity, Bandon and St. John The Baptist Mission, Port Orford, Holy Name in Coquille and Sts. Ann and Michael Mission in Myrtle Point, Holy Redeemer (North Bend), St. John the Apostle (Reedsport), St. Mary Our Lady of the Dunes (Florence), St. Monica (Coos Bay), Star of the Sea in Brookings and St. Charles Mission in Gold Beach
